The ONLY change I would have made is ruled blanks for handwriting (these kids are still pretty young), rather than open spaces, but when I compare the loss of that to the quality of the material they're learning, I wouldn't switch back to my old curriculum. This gives your child a chance to reflect on her response and perhaps refine, rather than responding with her. Try counting (silently) to 60 while your child is thinking, before intervening or speaking.
The Language Smarts C came with a small packet of updated pages, where the graphics had been messed up slightly on the originals, but even the mistakes were very minor, and I consider this a top notch product. Differences in critical thinking skills among students educated in public schools, Christian schools, and home schools. Offering your child ample time to think, attempt a task, or generate a response is critical, but not necessarily easy to do. I love that the answers are not spoon-fed even in a language arts curriculum, this company's products encourage the kids to THINK, to reason, and to exercise their noodle. The activities are varied and interesting, and they scale up gradually from basic phonics to real writing by the end of the year.
